Origins

Welcome to the official website of the National Sprint Car Bean Bag Association. All across the country a simple game is played by simple gamers. To many in the Midwest, the game is called “Cornhole,” to the folks in the Mid-Atlantic states it carries the title of “Bean bags.” However, region-to-region the goal remains the same, put the bag in the hole. Couple this everyday tailgating fixture with the greatest show on dirt and you have a combination that brings people together from all over the country. Of course by “greatest show on dirt,” we refer to the multitude of Sprint Car circuits that can be seen and/or heard from coast to coast every weekend from February to October. In our particular situation, we are luckier than most. We reside in the Sprint Car Mecca of the east coast, otherwise known as Central Pennsylvania. We are fortunate enough to call Williams Grove Speedway our home office.

This organization was spawned at the heels of one of the most disheartening splits in the racing world. For those of you not familiar with this, allow me to explain. Following the 2005 World of Outlaws season, several drivers in the WoO decided they were through running with the organization, which had been in turmoil for a handful of years. The WoO refugees signed on with a promoter out of Washington, to form the NST, or National Sprint Tour. Now, depending on how you look at it, this could be good or bad. Either, it is good because there are two national 410/sprint car divisions, which means more shows for us to attend. Or, it is bad because the quality of competition is decimated substantially per event. The alternative to these two points is simply this: Who really cares? We are still going to show up to the parking area 2 hours early for weekly shows to throw bags beforehand. We are still going to reap the benefits of the number 1 sprint car hotbed in the country. And when the Outlaws or NST come to town, we are still going to watch the PA Posse stomp them out. Posse figureheads include: 2005 Lucas Oil Sprint Car Driver of the Year, Fred Rahmer, 3-time National Open winner, Lance Dewease, World of Outlaw transplant, Greg Hodnett, and the list goes on with local legends like, Don Kreitz Jr., Mark Smith, Todd Schaffer, and Keith Kauffman.

For the last several years, as most of us have finished college and begun to move on with our lives, one thing remains constant. We bust our humps through the week with one thing in mind, “I’ve got a whole weekend of racing and bagging.” For all those who subscribe, free of cost of course, you will be invited to participate in a number of tournaments throughout the year. Keep in mind; there are entry fees for each tournament. Prices will depend on the magnitude of the tournament (see schedule for tentative listings).

In closing, this group was founded by a bunch of tailgaters who look forward to nothing more than a few cold beers, some bean bags, and some sprint car racing each and every weekend. So try not to take us so seriously, but seriously…try and take one of us…in a game of bags that is.
